In 1997 Jon competed in his first competitions the Bogong Cup and The Canungra Classic coming in at 3rd place in his division.

The day after graduating high school in 1997 Jon ended up breaking his shoulder whilst skateboarding, missing the competition season in ’98 but gained experience working at the “World Championships” at Forbes.

Jon continued competition flying throughout the years and in 2002 became the Australian Champion. Jon then started competing overseas and gained more experience from the international pilots. In the competitions to follow throughout Australia since 2000, Jon has been ranked eight times champion of the NSW State Titles and in his own backyard The Canungra Classic.

In 2006 after having a great season Jon was ranked number 1 on the world ranking system. He has now competed in nearly 100 competitions and has been ranked in the top five on the world rankings for the past couple of years.

Jon is still seeking the big title; World Champion and is hoping to achieve this in the next couple of years.

When Jon is not overseas competing he commitments to the local Gold Coast Hang gliding school, www.hangglidequeensland.com.au in instructing new students.
